Hagamos esto por intervalos porque si no me voy a perder, fueron muchas cosas las que pasaron ayer y 19GB de fotos a editar lo demuestran. Algunas cosas obviare porque ya pueden conocer de ellas en la publicación de la comunidad, así que me centrare en los sucesos del evento en sí. Para ponerlos un poco en situación, en caso de que saliste de una cueva ahora, llevamos ya un tiempo creando una relación con la comunidad gamer de Cuba. Gracias a ello fuimos parte del Primer Torneo de FIFA en Cuba, algo histórico por el simple hecho de poder formarse un equipo cubano que podrá participar en los siguientes juegos Panamericanos

Llegando dos horas antes que casi todos

Desde las 7:30am ya estaba en el lugar junto a mi cuñado @karelnt que me estuvo ayudando en todo. Ya yo había estado antes en el lugar, pero fue un choque ver tantas consolas juntas y un pedazo de pantalla enorme donde poder jugar. Apenas llegamos buscamos ayudar en la logística y organizamos una pequeña mesa donde atender a las personas que se nos acercaran. Estuve probando también la consola principal con un partido de prueba donde perdí por goleada ante el dueño de las consolas, así que era de esperarse 😂.

Let's do this for intervals because if I'm not going to get lost, there were many things that happened yesterday, and 19GB of photos to edit prove it. Some things I will skip because you can already know about them in the community publication, so I will focus on the happenings of the event itself. To put you a bit in the situation, in case you came out of a cave now, we have been creating a relationship with the Cuban gamer community for a while now. Thanks to this we were part of the First FIFA Tournament in Cuba, something historic for the simple fact of being able to form a Cuban team that will be able to participate in the next Pan American Games.

Arriving two hours earlier than almost everyone else

Since 7:30 am I was already at the place with my brother-in-law @karelnt who was helping me with everything. I had been there before, but it was a shock to see so many consoles together and a huge screen to play games on. As soon as we arrived we tried to help with the logistics and organized a small table where we could attend to the people who approached us. I was also testing the main console with a test game where I lost by a landslide to the owner of the consoles, so it was to be expected 😂.

Llego la hora de comenzar

Hubo un poco de tardanza para arrancar, pero a partir de ahi todo fue fluido. Se comenzó presentando a los competidores ante todos los asistentes, seguido por unos minutos de un partido inaugural entre el vicepresidente de la ADEC y un miembro del INDER al ser quienes están llevando a un equipo a los juegos panamericanos, que saldrá de este evento. No sé a ustedes, pero a mí la cara de ambos era una locura de ver, uno nervioso y el otro tocando un mando de PS4 por primera vez en su vida, o eso me hicieron pensar 🤣.

Acto seguido comenzó todo, el evento en sí, jugadores a sus puestos. Eran 10 partidos simultáneos donde no había segundas oportunidades, si quieres pasar a la siguiente ronda tienes que ganar. De 128 jugadores iniciales fueron quedando 64, luego 32 y así hasta ir llegando a las semifinales y final. Pero lo mejor de todo era el ambiente, allí los mismos jugadores iban acompañados de sus amistades o familiares y esto los apoyaban y gritaban desde la grada como si estuviese en un partido real. Hasta niños que fueron con sus padres o personas ya mayores, eso es lo diferente en realidad de estos nuevos deportes, la inclusividad que tienen. Da igual tu edad, raza o género, con poder sostener un mando ya tienes.

Pero no todo podía ser mirar a una pantalla como alguien más juega algo, muchas personas asistieron por acompañar a sus hijos, otros a sus familiares y hasta novias que odian los videojuegos (puede sonar machista, pero paso); así que algo más debía existir. Es de ahí que la buena gente de Deporte Total realizo varios juegos participativos mientras los jugadores iban teniendo sus encuentros, además de esto se instaló una máquina que permitía a los niños jugar de forma virtual varios deportes como futbol, bolos y otros.

It was time to start

There was a bit of a delay in getting started, but from then on everything went smoothly. The competitors were introduced to all the attendees, followed by a few minutes of an inaugural match between the vice president of ADEC and a member of INDER, as they are taking a team to the Pan American Games, which will come out of this event. I don't know about you, but to me the face of both of them was crazy to see, one nervous and the other touching a PS4 controller for the first time in his life, or so they made me think 🤣.

Then it all started the event itself, players to their places. There were 10 simultaneous matches where there were no second chances, if you want to move to the next round you have to win. From 128 initial players, there were 64, then 32, and so on until the semifinals and final. But the best of all was the atmosphere, there the players themselves were accompanied by their friends or family and this supported them and shouted from the stands as if they were in a real match. Even children who went with their parents or older people, that's what is really different about these new sports, the inclusiveness they have. It doesn't matter your age, race, or gender, with the ability to hold a controller you have it.

But not everything could be watching a screen as someone else plays something, many people attended to accompany their children, others their relatives, and even girlfriends who hate video games (it may sound sexist, but I pass); so something else had to exist. That's why the good people of Deporte Total made several participatory games while the players were having their matches, in addition to this a machine was installed that allowed children to play virtually several sports such as soccer, bowling, and others.

Un poco de Hive

Hasta este momento ya se había terminado la primera tanta de eliminatorias y fue cuando se me presento para dar una charla corta sobre Hive y la comunidad. De esta forma di una esencia de lo que representa esta blockchain y sus plataformas para el cubano, dejando un llamado a todo el que quiera acercase a preguntar y llevarse un sticker de recuerdo junto a la información más esencial en un flyer. Ya antes se habían acercado varias personas y luego de esto fueron algunos jugadores los que me preguntaron sobre ello, incluso al terminar todo el evento. Esta vez el nervio fue nulo, creo que el haber estado ante mas 300 personas antes me hizo más fácil todo.

A little bit about Hive

Up to this moment the first round of eliminations had already finished and it was when I was presented to give a short talk about Hive and the community. In this way I gave an essence of what this blockchain and its platforms represent for the Cuban, leaving a call to anyone who wants to approach to ask and take a souvenir sticker along with the most essential information on a flyer. Several people had already approached me before and after that, some players asked me about it, even at the end of the event. This time I was not nervous at all, I think that having been in front of more than 300 people before made everything easier for me.

La final

Llegó el momento de definir el mejor entre los dos finalistas. Hubo un poco de tensión al inicio, pero todo cambio con el primer gol, con abrir la lata ya casi se había definido el ganador. Para sorpresa de todos, el ganador no fue de La Habana, sino de Sancti Spiritus. Sergio, como ven en las imágenes, es el primer campeón de FIFA en Cuba y viajo desde centro de la isla teniendo que estar una semana lejos de su familia para hacerlo posible. Las lágrimas eran de esperar y más cuando tienes a tu esposa al lado apoyándote en todo momento y llorando también. Fue una muy buena ceremonia de premiación que entre entrevistas y fotos concluyo en el contacto con los tres mejores jugadores de mi parte para hacerles llegar unas tarjetas de regalo de Play Station para que puedan seguir mejorando.

The final

It was time to define the best between the two finalists. There was a little tension at the beginning, but everything changed with the first goal, with the opening of the can, the winner was almost defined. To everyone's surprise, the winner was not from Havana, but from Sancti Spiritus. Sergio, as you can see in the pictures, is the first FIFA champion in Cuba and he traveled from the center of the island having to spend a week away from his family to make it possible. Tears were to be expected and even more so when you have your wife by your side supporting you at all times and crying as well. It was a very good award ceremony that between interviews and photos concluded in contact with the three best players on my behalf to give them some Play Station gift cards so that they can continue to improve.
