Street Photography in Cuba #10 || MONOMAD CHALLEGE [EN-ES]

My entry to the #monomad challenge

It has been a long time since I could go out to photograph my streets and my people, all because I have so little free time but I am very happy to have reached the tenth publication on this topic. Today's photos were taken while waiting for a meeting to which I arrived very early and thanks to having my camera with me I walked around looking for those moments that I like to capture. All the pictures were taken with my Canon RP, the standard 18-55mm lens and an aperture of f/8.

First I show you the parking lot in front of the building where I had the meeting and two frames that I found curious about the architecture of this building which is quite old. It does not have a name as such because it houses businesses, a literary publishing house and even private apartments. The building on the side is in a very advanced state of collapse as is almost customary in many areas of Havana.

Tiempo sin poder salir a fotografiar mis calles y mi gente, todo por tener tan poco tiempo libre pero me alegra mucho haber llegado a la décima publicación sobre este tema. Las fotos de hoy las hice en espera de una reunión a la que llegue muy temprano y gracias a tener la cámara conmigo camine los alrededores en busca de esos momentos que me gustan capturar. Todas las fotos fueron hechas con mi Canon RP, el lente 18-55mm de serie y con una apertura de f/8.

Primero les muestro el parqueo frente al edificio en que tenia la reunión y dos encuadres que me parecieron curiosos sobre la arquitectura de este edificio que es bastante antiguo. No posee un nombre como tal pues en el se congregan negocios, una editorial literaria y hasta apartamentos particulares. El edificio del costado esta en un estado muy avanzado de derrumbe como es casi costumbre en muchas zonas de La Habana.

From this corner I began to walk until I reached a corner two blocks away that seemed to be very busy at that time of the morning and I set out to capture anything I saw that caught my attention. The photos you see now were taken along the way and it was that man in the fourth photo who seems to be standing still in the middle of the street but was actually trying to cross the street but at a very slow pace. I was worried because the traffic on that street is not little but there were no problems, from then on I stayed on that corner to see the contrast generated by the sun entering from the street in front of me.

A partir de esta esquina comencé a caminar hasta llegar a una esquina a dos cuadras de distancia que parecía muy transitada a esa hora de la mañana y me dispuse a captar cuanto viera que me llamara la atención. Las fotos que ven ahora las hice en el trayecto y fue ese hombre en la cuarta foto que parece estar inmovil en medio de la calle pero en verdad intentaba cruzarla pero a un paso muy lento. Me preocupaba porque el trafico en esa calle no es poco pero no hubo problemas, a partir de ahi me quede en esa esquina al ver el contraste que generaba el sol al entrar desde la calle de enfrente.

This corner is full of contrast and I'm not just speaking from a technical point of view as a photographer. Notice how careful the building on the left is with respect to the one on the right. These contrasts are very common in this area of Havana, if you are interested in seeing a series of photos that demonstrate this contrast let me know in the comments. Beyond that, of all the photos, the ones I liked the most were the final two. The composition and the relationship of shadows captivated me from the moment I took them, I knew how I would edit them just by looking at them.

Esta esquina esta llena de contraste y ya no hablo solo desde lo técnico como fotógrafo. Noten lo cuidado que esta el edificio de la izquierda con respecto al de la derecha. Estos contrastes son muy comunes en esta zona de La Habana, si les interesa ver una serie de fotos que demuestren este contraste déjenmelo saber en los comentarios. Mas allá de eso, de todas las fotos, las que mas me gustaron fueron las dos finales. La composición y la relación de sombras me cautivaron desde que la hice, ya sabia como las editaría con solo verlas.
