Street photography in Cuba #5 || Minimalism [EN-ES]
Hello black and white lovers, this is my entry to the #monomad challenge.
Today I want to tell you about some photos I took just yesterday while I was on my way to see a friend. I already talked about the beautiful relationship between documentary photography and black and white editing in this post. Today I want to talk a little more about minimalism but focused on how to take advantage of those spaces that help us a lot to be able to create it while we are on the streets.
I must tell you that it is usually a type of photography that takes a long time, just waiting for the perfect moment when someone passes by or when the light hits the way you want. The general idea is to look for a spacious place, you should investigate what would be the best time to have a good contrast of lights and shadows. Then you imagine the photo, where you would like to have a subject in the frame and wait. You may not have to wait long, but usually we look for places where there are few people waiting to have one person in the frame and this affects us by having to wait. A solution to this is to take a friend with you who wants to appear in the photos and you can guide them.
My favorite place for this kind of photos in my city is the Malecón Habanero, it has a very good mix of light and shadow at almost any time of the day, besides finding different characters as you walk. In the following two photos I didn't have to wait for the subject, in the distance I saw this person sitting alone and without him noticing me I looked for a couple of frames. One from the front while looking to the side and then looking wider as I moved away.
Hola amantes del blanco y negro, esta es mi entrada al reto #monomad.
Hoy les quiero comentar sobre unos fotos que hice ayer mismo mientras iba de camino a ver un amigo. Ya en su momento hable sobre la bella relación que existe entre la fotografía documental y la edición en blanco y negro en esta publicación. Hoy quiero hablar un poco mas sobre el minimalismo pero enfocado a como aprovechar esos espacios que nos ayudan mucho a poder crearlo mientras estamos en las calles.
Debo decirles que suele ser un tipo de fotografía que toma mucho tiempo, por el simple hecho de esperar el momento perfecto cuando alguien pasa o cuando la luz incide de la manera que deseas. La idea general es buscar un lugar espacioso, debes investigar cual sería el mejor horario para tener un buen contraste de luces y sombras. Luego ya queda imaginas la foto, donde te gustaría que tener un sujeto dentro del encuadre y esperar. Quizás no tengas que esperar mucho, pero normalmente para esto buscamos lugares donde hayan pocas personas esperando tener una sola dentro del encuadre y esto nos afectan al tener que esperar. Una solución a esto, es llevar a una amistad contigo que quiera aparecer en las fotos y puedas guiarlo.
Mi lugar preferido para este tipo de fotos en mi ciudad es el Malecón Habanero, tiene una mezcla de luz y sombra muy buena en casi cualquier momento de día, ademas de encontrar distintos personajes a medida que caminas. En las siguientes dos fotos no tuve que esperar a por el sujeto, a la distancia vi a esta persona sentada sola y sin que me notara busque par de encuadres. Uno de frente mientras miraba hacia un lado y luego busque mayor amplitud al alejarme.
These next two were somewhat curious. I saw a girl who I think is an Asian tourist from afar and she caught my attention because of her dress. She was walking in the same direction as me but more delayed, so I put the brakes on and took some pictures of her. The funny thing happens in the last picture.
Estas dos siguientes fueron algo curiosas. Vi a una muchacha que a lo lejos creo es una turista asiática y me llamo la atención por su vestimenta. Ella venía caminan en el mismo sentido que yo pero mas retrasada, así que puse el freno y fui haciéndole algunas fotos. Lo curioso pasa en la última foto.
In this one I notice a boy sitting in front of the sea and how he notices the Asian girl as she approaches him. I hurried to try to capture that moment when she will pass by him, I almost didn't make it, but I think I was able to get it. Maybe she even said a compliment but I didn't hear anything.
En esta me fijo en un muchacho sentado frente al mar y como se va fijando en la muchacha asiática a medida que se aproxima a él. Me apure en tratar de captar ese momento cuando ella pasará por su lado, casi no lo logro, pero creo que pude conseguirlo. Quizas hasta le dijo algún piropo pero no escuche nada.
