Street Photography in Cuba #6 || Kids playing soccer [EN-ES]
This is my entry to the #monomad challenge
Hello everyone and welcome to the sixth edition of my articles about street photography in Cuba. This time I will be showing you some pictures where you can see how the kids play soccer and you will have to excuse me for the editing, I could not squeeze the images as I usually do because due to a human error I only shot in jpg format. Advice, never stop shooting in RAW format, otherwise you will lose a lot of information that will help you a lot in editing, as it happened to me with these.
But leaving that aside I must tell you how children and not so children where I include myself play soccer or almost any other sport. Many times we do not have access to parks or spaces created for that, so we usually play in the street and often where there is traffic of cars, bicycles and any vehicle. There are not few events where a ball hits the window of a house or interrupts the traffic. But that's how we were raised since we were little, these pictures were taken in a well known park surrounded by main streets where the traffic is high but at least there is good space for the kids. Notice how they use a space delimited by a circle and the goals are the benches where people normally sit. In spite of all this they spend hours playing and not even the covid can stop them, they all wear their masks even if some of them don't use them well because of the constant movement.
Hola a todos y sean bienvenidos a la sexta edición de mis artículos sobre fotografía callejera en Cuba. Esta vez les estaré mostrando algunas fotos donde pueden ver como los niños juegan futbol y van a tener que disculparme en la edición, no pude exprimir las imágenes como suelo hacer pues por un error humano solo dispare en formato jpg. Consejo, nunca dejen de disparar en formato RAW, de lo contrario perderá mucha información que les ayudará muchísimo en edición, como me paso con estas.
Pero dejando a eso a un lado debo comentarles como los niños y no tan niños donde me incluyo jugamos futbol o casi cualquier otro deporte. Muchas veces no tenemos acceso a parques o espacios creados para eso, por ello solemos jugar en plena calle y muchas veces donde existe transito de autos, bicicletas y cualquier vehículo. No son pocos los sucesos donde una pelota golpea la ventana de una casa o interrumpe el trafico. Pero así nos criamos desde pequeños, estas fotos fueron tomadas en un parque bastante conocido y rodeado de calles principales donde el tráfico es alto pero al menos hay buen espacio para los muchachos. Noten como usan un espacio delimitado por un círculo y las porterías son los bancos donde normalmente se sientan las personas. A pesar de todo ello se pasan horas jugando y ni la covid los puede parar, todos llevan su mascarilla aunque algunos no la usen bien por el movimiento constante.
Even a dog from the street dares to play and although I was very pleased, I did not expect the response from one of the boys. It is true that there is still a lot to be done in favor of animal welfare, but I did not expect him to try to hit the dog that was just trying to play like they do.
Incluso un perro de la calle se atreve a jugar y eso aunque me agrado mucho, no esperaba la respuesta de uno de los muchachos. Es verdad que aún queda mucho por hacer en favor del bienestar animal, pero no me espera que le intentará dar un golpe al perro que solo buscaba jugar como mismo hacen ellos.
As they get tired of playing, the boys retreat to their homes, but there are always a few left. You can even find a single boy playing because of the great love for the sport in Cuba. We have always been of achieving great feats in the sport and everything starts here, in the neighborhood while playing with your friends.
A medida que se van cansando de jugar se van retirando hacia sus casas los muchachos pero siempre van quedando algunos. Incluso puedes encontrarte un solo muchacho jugando por la afición tan grande que existe por el deporte en Cuba. Siempre hemos sido de lograr grandes hazañas en el deporte y como todo comienza aquí, en el barrio mientras juegas con tus amigos.
