Working as a photojournalist, a dream come true [EN-ES]

I can now say that I am a photojournalist, a dream I have had since I first learned about documentary and travel photography. It's the kind of photography I want to live from and that's why not long ago I accepted a job offer for Juventud Técnica magazine but it's not until now that my first images are published in it. Each edition of the magazine is released every 2 months and that's why I wait to be able to tell you about it in Hive. Something I love is that it is focused on science, technology and the environment.

Everything arises from an interview that I was made for being the one who represents the Cuban community @hive-10053 for a work on WEB3 that you can even read in the issue 425 of the magazine. When they saw that I was a photographer they made me the proposal to work with them and although it is a dream job for a few years, I had to think about it for a while because I already have another job and managing the community also takes time. I finally agreed thanks to the fact that I often work from home and I can afford to manage my week, but I have to be planning constantly.

Today I want to present my first work for this magazine, which was a series of portraits of the president of the Agrupación de Deportes Electrónicos de Cuba, which you can read on page 29 of this issue. The session took place at the Palacio de la Computación in Havana because his association usually holds events in that space and I asked him to bring Gamer objects that he usually uses such as keyboard, headphones and more. The idea is to create images that support the written work of journalists and in this case the interview to this gaming personality in Cuba.

Ya puedo decir que soy un fotorreportero, un sueño que tengo desde que conocí lo que es la fotografía documental y de viajes. Es el tipo de fotografía de la que quiero vivir y es por ello que no hace mucho acepte una oferta de trabajo para la revista Juventud Técnica pero no es hasta ahora que salen mis primeras imágenes plasmadas en ella. Cada edición de la revista es lanzada cada 2 meses y por ello la espera para poder contarles en Hive. Algo que me encanta, es que este enfocada a la ciencia, la tecnología y el medio ambiente.

Todo surge a partir de una entrevista que se me hizo por ser quien representa a la comunidad cubana @hive-10053 para un trabajo sobre WEB3 que incluso pueden leer en la edición 425 de la revista. Al ver que era fotógrafo me hicieron la propuesta de trabajar con ellos y aunque es un trabajo soñado desde hace unos años, lo tuve que pensar un tiempo pues ya tengo otro trabajo y llevar la gestión de la comunidad también lleva su tiempo. Finalmente accedí gracias a que muchas veces trabajo desde la casa y puedo darme el lujo de gestionarme la semana, pero si tengo que estar planificándome constantemente.

Hoy quiero presentarles mi primer trabajo para esta revista que fueron una serie de retratos al presidente de la Agrupación de Deportes Electrónicos de Cuba que pueden leer en la pagina 29 de esta edición. La sesión la realizamos en el Palacio de la Computación de la Habana pues su asociación suele realizar eventos en dicho espacio y le pedí que llevara objetos Gamer que suela usar como teclado, audífonos y más. La idea es crear imágenes que soporten el trabajo escrito de los periodistas y en esta caso la entrevista a esta personalidad de los juegos en Cuba.

I have already done other jobs of this type during my short time as a photojournalist and I hope to tell you about them soon, as they are published in the magazine. My experience has been great and I hope it will allow me to gain more and more vision to be able to create better and better quality work. My idea or dream is to create a quality portfolio that will allow me to participate in contests and travel behind that unique image wherever I go like any other photojournalist in the world.

He realizado ya otros trabajos de este tipo durante mi poco tiempo como fotorreportero y espero contarles pronto, en la medida que vayan siendo publicados en la revista. Mi experiencia ha sido genial y espero me permita ir ganando en visión para poder crear cada vez con mejor calidad. Mi idea o sueño es crear un portafolio de calidad que me permita participar en concursos y viajar detrás de esa imagen única hacia donde sea como cualquier fotorreportero en el mundo.
